Fill Material for Brushes and Brooms

Proex is polypropylene and this product gets its' name from the X-shape of the bristle. The most widely utilized and versatile filament combination is a mixture of Proex and Crimped Wire. This material is extremely effective and utilized as an all purpose filament for outdoor and indoor sweeping applications, including damp and humid conditions. Proex is not recommended for whatever high temperature sweeping applications.

Nylon is one more widely utilized fill material for sweeper brushes. It is a highly productive filament which does well in dry sweeping environment and has a long lasting brush life in these applications. Nylon is great for high temperature conditions due to its durability and high melting point. It also functions well on surfaces that are rough. Nylon is likewise a material choice that is more flexible and is longer lasting in scrubbing applications. When conditions are wet or humid, nylon performs less accurately.

Made of a blend of Palmyra and Tampico fibers, Union fiber is material which is extremely effective for sweeping fine particle debris and is utilized for dust control. As opposed to various materials which are synthetic, Union has a comparatively shorter wear life. Often it is combined with wire in order to provide more stiffness in general.

Grit is a Nylon filament that consists of silicon carbide grit particles. Grit filaments come in different sizes like for instance: 070"/46, .050"/80, .035"/180, .022"/120, and .018"/500. The first number means the filament diameter. The stiffer the bristle, the higher the number and the second number reflects the particle size. Grit is labeled similar to sandpaper; the smaller the grit size translates to more aggressive scrubbing ability.
