 Sweeper Parts Peterborough - The largest operations within Peterborough are Quaker Oats and General Electric. Peterborough Regional Health Centre is now the largest company, with over two thousand workers. Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Trent University are likewise a main economic contributor to Peterborough city.
The Trent-Severn Waterway is home to the largest hydraulic lift lock, the Peterborough Lift Lock. The lock was opened during 1904. Situated within downtown Peterborough is Del Crary Park, that is home to the Peterborough Yacht Club. Del Crary Park is a large urban space on Little Lake which is home to the international Festival of Lights fireworks displays, while providing a great outdoor space to hold outdoor concerts and events through summertimes. The Riverview Park and Zoo is managed by the Peterborough Utilities Group. Admission is free, and everyone can access the disc golf courses, animal exhibits and miniature train rides. The Peterborough Skateboard park was constructed recently, and is considered to be one of the largest skateboard parks in Ontario. It has numerous multiple rails, ramps, and some half-pipes. For annual events, there are Artsweek, Downtown Countdown, Festival of Trees, Simcoe Day, and Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade. Artsweek is an annual celebration of the arts held in September. Downtown Countdown is an alcohol/drug-free New Year's celebration. Festival of Trees is a fundraiser supporting local healthcare. It has a show of adorned Christmas trees and other seasonally-themed displays in late November. Simcoe Day is Ontario's municipal holiday held during the first Monday of August. Peterborough Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade is held on the first Saturday of December at 5:00 pm.
Within the city, there are a lot of recreational places for the residents and visitors to enjoy, including: Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre, Peterborough Marina, Del Crary Park, Millennium Park, Queen Alexandra Community Centre, youth programs in six neighbourhood centres, lifeguard supervision at six wading pools and two waterfront beaches, instructional sports programs, sports field scheduling on 110 fields, play programs at eight neighborhood parks, day camp activities, public swims and swimming lessons, senior Services, children's Programming, wellness and fitness initiatives.
